Gospel Luke 1:39-56
Where do you see this Gospel in the Church? In the second window – the Visitation. What do you get from the Assumption today?
First, Mary went with haste to visit Elizabeth. This means that for Mary, the project of God was priority. She went with haste to do what God asked her to do. How do I prioritise the project of God in my daily spiritual life, in my spiritual journey? What is my commitment to serve God? No excuse to attend Sunday Mass as a day of obligation, no excuse to serve the community, to serve my brothers and sisters, etc.
Elizabeth represents the Old Testament and Mary the New Testament, therefore, the encounter between Mary and Elizabeth is between the Old Testament and the New Testament. Elizabeth welcomed Mary, the New Testament, with great joy. She was open to welcome newness. How do I open my heart to welcome new things in my life, to welcome new members in my community? We tend to keep in our hearts old traditions and are closed to receive new things.
The Visitation is the centre of the Celebration of the Assumption. The dialogue between Mary and Elizabeth is the greatest thing that happened. Here the invitation is for us to have a visitation with our brothers and sisters. There are many ways to receive our brothers and sisters. One is to visit them with our prayer, with a smile, with love and kindness. Visit them when the opportunity arises but also visit them in different ways. The worst way to receive our brothers and sisters is by gossiping.
The fourth point is the Manifestation of the Mystery – the Magnificat. Mary showed great spiritual joy and happiness in God. The project of salvation that Mary brought to Elizabeth was a project of happiness. We cannot come to the Celebration of the Eucharist, the Mass, and go back sad and the same way that we came. We need to find joy in the Eucharist. Jesus is the one here that will bring us joy and happiness in our hearts.
Lastly, Mary remained with Elizabeth. How is my faithfulness to the project of God? Of course, sometimes we face difficulties in our communities and lives but remain faithful like Mary. Remain faithful, not to the Priest, not to La Rochelle, but to the project of God.
Let us keep these five points for the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, as a model for our spiritual lives. Amen.

Primeiro, Maria foi com pressa visitar Isabel. Isto significa que, para Maria, o projeto de Deus era prioritário. Ela foi com pressa para fazer o que Deus lhe pediu para fazer. Como priorizar o projeto de Deus na minha vida espiritual diária, na minha jornada espiritual? Qual é o meu compromisso de servir a Deus? Nenhuma desculpa para assistir à missa dominical como um dia de obrigação, nenhuma desculpa para servir a comunidade, para servir meus irmãos e irmãs, etc.
Elizabete representa o Antigo Testamento e Maria o Novo Testamento, portanto, o encontro entre Maria e Isabel é entre o Antigo Testamento e o Novo Testamento. Isabel acolheu Maria, o Novo Testamento, com grande alegria. Mostrou-se aberta a acolher a novidade. Como faço para abrir meu coração para receber coisas novas na minha vida, para receber novos membros na minha comunidade? Tendemos a manter em nossos corações velhas tradições e estamos fechados para receber coisas novas.
A Visitação é o centro da Celebração da Assunção. O diálogo entre Maria e Elizabete foi a melhor coisa que aconteceu. Aqui o convite é para que tenhamos uma visitação com nossos irmãos e irmãs. Há muitas maneiras de receber nossos irmãos e irmãs. Uma é visitá-los com a nossa oração, com um sorriso, com amor e bondade. Visite-os quando surgir a oportunidade, mas também os visite de diferentes maneiras. A pior maneira de receber nossos irmãos e irmãs é fofocando.
O quarto ponto é a Manifestação do Mistério – o Magnificat. Maria mostrou grande alegria espiritual e felicidade em Deus. O projeto de salvação que Maria trouxe a Elizabete foi um projeto de felicidade. Não podemos vir à Celebração Eucarística, à Missa, e voltar tristes e da mesma forma que viemos. Precisamos encontrar alegria na Eucaristia. Jesus é aquele aqui que nos trará alegria e felicidade em nossos corações.
Por fim, Maria permaneceu com Elizabete. Como está a minha fidelidade ao projeto de Deus? É claro que, por vezes, enfrentamos dificuldades nas nossas comunidades e na nossa vida, mas permanecemos fiéis como Maria. Permanecei fiéis, não ao Sacerdote, não a La Rochelle, mas ao projeto de Deus.
Guardemos estes cinco pontos para a Assunção da Bem-aventurada Virgem Maria, como modelo para a nossa vida espiritual. Amém.
